ABOUT THE INITIATIVE
Berlin Fashion X International is an initiative to support sustainable business partnerships in the fashion industry between Berlin-based fashion companies and the USA, South Korea, and/or Japan. Through various formats, participating brands have the opportunity to establish new key contacts in these countries and strengthen their knowledge of market entry in order to establish themselves in the long term in the US, South Korean, and/or Japanese markets.

BERLIN FASHION X INTERNATIONAL (BFXI) is our internationalization project, which specifically promotes the development of sustainable business partnerships in the fashion and creative industries between Berlin, South Korea, and Japan. At its core is the networking of fashion brands based in Berlin and Germany with international innovators, institutions, experts, and multipliers.
The aim of the project is the long-term and successful positioning of the participating companies and brands in selected Asian markets.
BFXI offers access to diverse resources in the areas of intercultural communication, brand communication and marketing, sustainability, digitalization, sales, and production processes. In this way, we support participating brands in building a robust international network and developing a sound understanding of their respective target markets.
Through delegation trips with curated presentation and networking formats, workshops and direct exchange with experts from the local fashion and creative scene, supplemented by preparatory webinars, we are specifically strengthening the internationalization of Berlin as a fashion location.
Delegation trips
Since October 2023, we have been organizing regular delegation trips for Berlin fashion brands to international markets.
New York City, USA, was initially the focus: Four trips took Berlin-based brands to the US metropolis between October 2023 and April 2025. The programs included networking events, expert talks, agency and press meetings, as well as workshops on sales, communication, and strategic market recommendations. Currently, no further delegation trips to the USA are planned.
Seoul, South Korea was the first Asian destination to be featured in the fall of 2025: Twelve brands gained insights into the Korean market from August 30 to September 5, 2025. A second trip to Seoul is planned from August 30 to September 4, 2026 – applications are open until April 23 HERE.
Tokyo, Japan was added as a further destination at the end of 2025. Following an initial delegation trip in November 2025, a second group traveled to Japan in March 2026 to network and learn about the local market.
