ABOUT THE INITIATIVE
Just Fashion is an EU-funded project that brings together 20 partners from 8 countries to promote innovative, circular business models, digitalisation and sustainable practices in the fashion industry. The Fashion Council Germany is coordinating a pilot project and networking the German fashion ecosystem to accelerate the industry's transformation towards greater sustainability and transparency.
The fashion industry is a significant economic force in Europe, yet it faces major environmental challenges. Just Fashion is a European Union-funded initiative, coordinated by the University of Antwerp, that aims to drive change in the fashion sector. Our consortium unites 20 partners from 8 countries, including universities, research centers, SMEs, and industry leaders, all pursuing the same goal: to promote responsible and transparent business models.
Mission:
Over the next three years, Just Fashion will focus on:
The development of innovative circular business models
Promoting digitalization in the fashion industry
Supporting sustainable practices along the entire fashion value chain
By implementing these strategies, we aim to drive a fundamental shift towards a more sustainable and circular fashion industry in Europe.
Goals
Assessing the current state of fashion and sustainability in Europe
Evaluation of tools and circular business models
Development of measures to prepare SMEs for the regulations of the European Green Deal
Key areas:
Development of a new sustainability index and improvement of existing circular business models.
6 pilot projects exploring aspects of the circular economy such as end-of-life, zero-waste prototyping, recycling and traceability
Updating transformation tools to support the transition to sustainable business models
Creation of an AI-powered support tool to help SMEs prepare for new political frameworks.
The role of the Fashion Council Germany:
The Fashion Council Germany (FCG) plays a central role in Just Fashion, representing German fashion and promoting innovation, sustainability, and collaboration. Together with the brand Luisa Cerano, FCG is further developing the project and assuming the role of project coordinator. This entails the following tasks:
Coordination of a pilot project to promote sustainable practices
Networking the German fashion ecosystem with the initiatives of Just Fashion to strengthen the project's impact at the national level.
Together we are reshaping the future of European fashion, making it more sustainable, circular and future-oriented.
