NEW: FCG TEMP STUDIO

Fashion Council Germany

Mannheim, December 12, 2023: In mid-November, the Fashion Council Germany opened the FCG TEMP STUDIO in Mannheim's city center quarter Q6 Q7. With this project and the first branch outside of Berlin, localONE, which opened in Mannheim in the spring, the FCG aims to intensify its supra-regional promotion. The FUTURAUM project, which supports the creative interim use of vacant store spaces in Mannheim's city center, has now created the opportunity to offer FCG members a representative space in the south of Germany in collaboration with TEXTILEREI / NEXT MANNHEIM. The store space will host a temporary exhibition of local members from Mannheim and the surrounding area until 23.12.2023. The program will be complemented by workshops, lectures and information exhibitions by participating members and partners.

The following members will be represented in the FCG TEMP STUDIO with key pieces from their collections: Anna Auras, Belle Ikat, Claire Common, F65.0, Florenz, Goldmarlen, Isabella Asfour, Julia Jung, Limo, Meriem Lebdiri and my little Bukhara. The walk-in pop-up exhibition is open during the regular opening hours of the shopping center. Works by Mannheim-based fashion photographer Christian Borth and Mannheim-based graphic artist Hony can also be seen in the FCG TEMP STUDIO.

Scott Lipinski, Managing Director of the FCG: “We are delighted that we can offer our members from the region around Mannheim a stage to present themselves to a wider audience with the FCG TEMP STUDIO. Since the opening of our first branch in Mannheim, the localONE, we have increasingly focused on promoting our members in the southern German states and would like to continue our commitment nationwide in the future.”

“Retail space in high-traffic city center locations is highly attractive. It is therefore an extraordinary opportunity for young designers to be able to use a temporarily vacant space in Q6 Q7 to showcase their work,” explains Mannheim's Mayor Christian Specht, adding: ”This is made possible by the FutuRaum project, which is working with partners and with the support of the Federal Ministry of Housing, Urban Development and Building to maintain and further expand the attractiveness of Mannheim's city center in the future.”

In addition, the participating designers were given the opportunity to organize lectures, workshops and networking events that offered interested visitors targeted information on relevant topics such as sustainability, inclusion and further education. Nico Hoffmeister/ Community Manager TEXTILEREI: “Our FCG TEMP STUDIO Studio is a wonderful example of how we were able to initiate a space together and in a very short space of time, whose brand portfolio and appeal extends far beyond the borders of Mannheim.”

Information days on the FCG's GENERATION ZUKUNFT education project in partnership with The PVH Foundation are also taking place this week. Teachers from the Mannheim region and surrounding areas will have the unique opportunity to find out more about the initiative in person, which educates students about the fashion industry and gives them new opportunities for further education.
