At the official DER BERLINER SALON opening on Monday, February 5th, the third round of the FASHION X CRAFT project was announced and this year's participants were announced by Christiane Arp, Chairwoman of the Fashion Council Germany. In an application process lasting several weeks, the new class was selected by a jury of experts.
The six participants for year 3 are: Chantal Wehran (Amsterdam Fashion Institute), Jasmin Wottke (HAW Hamburg), Maira Gath (Hannover University of Applied Sciences), Michelle Bohnes (HTW Berlin), Niclas Hasemann (Pforzheim University of Applied Sciences) and Paula Dischinger (Institut Francais de la Mode). They particularly impressed with their creative concepts, innovative approaches and outstanding motivation. From April 2024, they will follow in the footsteps of the last two editions and begin the workshops and further training as part of the funding program. The topics include learning how to work with different materials and traditional craftsmanship.
Within DER BERLINER SALON, in addition to the farewell presentation of the design talents from the second year, the concepts of the designers from the third year will also be exhibited, who will present their final presentation during Berlin Fashion Week 2025.
The FASHION x CRAFT funding program from the Fashion Council Germany in partnership with the Swarovski Foundation and The King's Foundation aims to educate and support young graduates in the fields of fashion and textile design in tailor-made workshops in the areas of sustainability, craftsmanship and innovation.
