Berlin Fashion Week has undergone some fundamental changes since its debut in 2007. What do you consider the most significant transformation of the Berlin Fashion Week format to date?

I very much welcome the fact that Berlin Fashion Week is bringing the topic of sustainability and young contemporary designers more into the foreground and focus. These are Berlin's strengths: the creativity and the sustainable lifestyle, which is deeply rooted in the city and reflected in the multitude of sustainable companies, as well as in the sustainability initiatives that have essentially been running parallel to Fashion Week since its inception.

Since last season, Berlin Fashion Week has been undergoing a significant shift in focus: innovative formats, young designers, and sustainable concepts are now at the forefront. How do you assess this positive change for Berlin Fashion Week in an international comparison?

The thematic focus areas for Berlin are also adopted by other international Fashion Weeks. Berlin's strength lies in its ability to combine creativity, subculture, coolness, sustainability, innovation, and digitalization with music, design, food, and fashion.

What are you most looking forward to at the upcoming Berlin Fashion Week?

I'm really looking forward to our 202030 pop-up event focused on denim. We have some fantastic speakers on stage again, and afterwards we'll be hosting a community gathering. It's going to be a great reunion, and it looks like the weather will cooperate. I'm also excited about the shows from BERLIN CONTEMPORARY designers and seeing how their collections continue to evolve.
