An evening full of innovation, attitude and design vision: On May 17, 2025, the first MUNICH FASHION AWARD celebrated its premiere in the Bavarian capital – setting an impressive example for the future of fashion.

Initiated by Kreativ München, the cultural and creative industries competence team of the City of Munich, the new award recognizes outstanding European design in the categories of Contemporary Sustainable Fashion and Contemporary Sustainable Accessories . The award is not only a competition, but also a platform for promoting and showcasing designers who realize their designs with courage, innovation, and a sustainable mindset.

A total of ten forward-thinking designers were selected from a large number of applications and presented their work to a distinguished audience from industry, culture, and media. The finalists included: Halfs Munich, Lutz Morris, nat-2, OBS, SELVA HUYGENS [SLVA], CAVIA, Federico Cina, PLNGNS, Martin Niklas Wieser, and Plaid-à-Porter. The jury, comprised of experts in design, sustainability, business, and culture, particularly commended the combination of aesthetic quality, innovative material choices, and social relevance.

With the MUNICH FASHION AWARD, Kreativ München is expanding its commitment to the local and European creative industries. The new award now positions Munich internationally as a location for progressive fashion design with a message.
