After studying fashion in 1995, he founded the brand "dirk schönberger" and moved from Antwerp to Berlin in December 2006. He was Creative Director at JOOP! Hamburg (2007–2010) and Adidas (2010–2018) and joined MCM as Global Creative Officer in 2018. In January 2023, he left the company to become Chief Brand Officer at the furniture brand vetsak, but returned to MCM in 2025 and now holds CBO positions for both brands.
