Maira Gath, a zero-waste designer from Hannover, combines fashion with the art of hand weaving. She works in close co-operation with hand weavers from northern Germany. This collaboration creates an interplay between tradition and innovation, in which the fabric design and the design merge together. The fabrics are adapted to the design, planned and woven directly into shape.

After completing her bachelor's degree at Hannover University of Applied Sciences and Arts, she is learning to use the loom herself in order to delve deeper into the art of hand weaving and thus find further ways to create fashion woven into shape.

She is also one of the winners of the Fashion X Craft funding programme in its third year.
