Last Saturday, the first GENERATION FUTURE Hub took place at PLATTE Berlin – an inspiring event that combined education, sustainability, and creativity in the fashion industry. A particular highlight was the book release of the German translation of the children's book "Do Trousers Grow on Trees?" by Jasmien Wynants and Judith Thomas, which aims to raise awareness among young readers about the ecological and social impacts of the fashion industry.

In an interactive discussion about the content of "Generation Future," followed by a quiz based on the book's themes, the participants of the hub gained fascinating insights into the impact of the fashion industry. The two authors discussed the book's content in detail; it is aimed at children aged 8 and up. Colorful illustrations vividly and age-appropriately convey the production processes, materials, and supply chains of clothing to the reader. The book appeals not only to its primary target audience of young people but also to adults, offering them valuable insights. Afterwards, the participants actively engaged in a creative workshop, exploring sustainable design approaches. The event impressively demonstrated that education and creative expression are inextricably linked and together contribute to raising awareness and inspiring young people about a more sustainable future in fashion.

Since 2022, the Fashion Council Germany, in partnership with the PVH Foundation, has been touring Germany with the educational project "GENERATION FUTURE" to foster a sustainable fashion awareness in 9th-grade students and showcase career opportunities in the fashion industry. Following the workshops, students have the chance to qualify for the project's excursion to Scotland. With the new hub format, the FCG is now bringing this content directly to young people, extending beyond the school setting.

To reach even more students, further GENERATION FUTURE Hubs will take place in various German cities in the coming months. Interactive workshops, panel discussions, and creative formats will be used to continuously raise awareness and inspire young people about a sustainable fashion industry. In addition, numerous school visits will be taking place throughout Germany until the summer.
