With more than 600 participants and around 60 international experts, the second edition of the talk format “METAMORPHOSIS – dialogues about change” powered by eBay boasted an even more diverse program of keynotes, panels and interviews.
At the invitation of the Fashion Council Germany (FCG) and eBay Germany, participants, including designers, industry experts, students, and young professionals, gathered at NIO House Berlin from January 31 to February 3, 2025. They discussed topics such as (fashion) design, artificial intelligence, sustainability, and circularity, contributing their individual perspectives and innovative ideas to shape the future of fashion and create spaces for discussion.
The event began with intensive discussions about the current challenges and opportunities facing the fashion industry with regard to sustainability and the circular economy. Subsequent keynote speeches and panels addressed topics such as sustainable materials and the importance of creating long-lasting brands.
The second day focused on technological innovations and new business models. A discussion with Michele Casucci (Certilogo) highlighted the potential of digital product passports (DPPs). A visionary panel brought together leading figures from Paris, Milan, and Berlin, including Pascal Morand (Executive President, Fédération de la Haute Couture et de la Mode), Carlo Capasa (Chairman, Camera Nazionale della Moda Italiana), Christiane Arp, and Scott Lipinski (both FCG). Together, they outlined a future in which global fashion centers, through innovative approaches and mutual inspiration, create a more sustainable and inclusive fashion ecosystem.
Creativity and visionary approaches characterized the discussions on the third day. A particular highlight was the inspiring exchange between Michael Philouze, Men's Editor at Vogue US, and Hanan Besovic of @ideservecouture, who discussed how creativity and values could redefine the fashion world in 2025.
The final day focused on consumer expectations and how brands can build authentic connections with their communities. The keynote address, "Your Future Consumer – A Catalyst for Redirection," explored the dynamics between consumer behavior, innovation, and sustainability. Furthermore, the panel discussion "Crafting Your Sustainability Story" provided valuable insights into how brands can build trust through transparent communication.
Recordings of the talks and presentations are now available on demand on the METAMORPHOSIS website.
Speakers included, in addition to Ann Claes (MASJIEN), who serves as Content Director, Ashley Krupnik (WGSN), Emma Vloeimans (TRIBUTE TO MAGAZINE), and Cecilie Thorsmark. (Copenhagen Fashion Week) Joshua Graham (SHOWstudio), Julian Daynov (Bureau), Maliha Shoaib (Vogue Business), Mandy Krüger (eBay Germany) and Philipp Fromme (NIO Germany).
In the evening, the exchange among the experts continued in an intimate setting. The restaurants Bonvivant, Österelli, 963 Berlin, and THE CORAL acted as hosts, offering not only culinary highlights but also the opportunity to exchange ideas and develop joint visions for future projects.
