Berlin, October 1, 2024: On Tuesday afternoon, the Governing Mayor of Berlin, Kai Wegner, awarded the Berlin State Order to twelve citizens. Among those honored was Christiane Arp, Chairwoman of the Fashion Council Germany, who was recognized for her outstanding services to the state of Berlin and the promotion of the fashion industry. In her role as a founding member and Chairwoman of the Fashion Council Germany e.V., Christiane Arp has had a significant influence on the development of the local fashion industry. Through her leading role in the reorientation of Berlin Fashion Week, she has made a decisive contribution to the growing international reputation of the fashion week.

In addition to Christiane Arp, other committed personalities from various fields were honored for their special commitment and services to the state of Berlin. The award of the State Order of Merit, one of Berlin's highest awards, recognizes the commitment of citizens who have a lasting impact on the social, cultural and economic life of Berlin. The Order of Merit is awarded by the Berlin Senate and honors personalities who have made a special contribution to the community and the development of the capital.

As curator of “Der Berliner Salon”, which she initiated together with Marcus Kurz, Managing Director of NOWADAYS, Christiane Arp is particularly committed to young designers whose focus is primarily on craftsmanship and innovation. In doing so, she offers young talents an expressive stage and at the same time strengthens Berlin as a fashion location. The city is considered a “powerhouse of talent” and is a pioneer for creativity, sustainability and tolerance.
