Christiane Arp

Chairwoman of the Board, Founding Member

Christiane Arp has been Chairwoman of the Board of the Fashion Council Germany since November 2021, having been a founding member in 2015. For her commitment to strengthening the fashion industry in Germany and increasing its international relevance, she was awarded the Order of Merit of the State of Berlin in 2024. Previously, from 2003 to 2020, Arp shaped the global fashion landscape as Editor-in-Chief of VOGUE Germany. In 2019, for example, she curated the Munich exhibition "Is this fashion or can it go?!" to mark the magazine's 40th anniversary, which positioned fashion design within its social and cultural context. Since 2015, Arp has curated the Berlin Salon, which showcases the work of designers from Germany and in Germany as a group exhibition during Berlin Fashion Week; prior to this, in 2011, she founded the VOGUE Salon, which also presented designs by emerging talents as an installation during Fashion Week. Supporting young talent was a personal priority for Christiane Arp even back then – and today, as Chairwoman of the Fashion Council Germany, she continues to focus on it. She herself studied fashion design at the Hamburg University of Applied Sciences and, after graduating, found her way into the media.
