Mirjam von Mengershausen's work navigates the tension between craftsmanship and technology, tradition and innovation, function and poetry. Her practice encompasses knitwear collections, textile objects, costume design and the development of sustainable production and material strategies. MENGERSHAUSEN stands for a creative practice that understands fashion and textiles as a cultural language – and as a tool for addressing social, ecological and physical issues. In addition to the designed objects, participatory formats and workshops are created that make textile techniques accessible as collective knowledge and renegotiate the connection between craftsmanship, technology and contemporaneity. Each design is also an attitude – towards the material, the process and the people who come into contact with it.
