On the last day of Copenhagen Fashion Week, the same and The Business of Fashion invited people to the roundtable in Copenhagen. The roundtable brought together leading figures from the global community to discuss how the fashion industry can accelerate systemic change.
Including 14 panelists alongside the CEO of Copenhagen Fashion Week, Cecilie Thorsmark, those present represented a distinguished cross-section of the industry with executives from the Federation Francaise de la Haute Couture et de la Mode, Camera Nazionale della Moda Italiana, Marimekko, Ganni, EU Parliament, The Garment, Euratex, European Fashion Alliance/Fashion Council Germany, Lenzing, Renewcell, Wardrobe Crisis and Tomorrow LTD.
Among them, Christiane Arp, Chairwoman of the Board of the Fashion Council Germany e.V.
Cecilie Thorsmark comments on the partnership with Business of Fashion:
“Our industry needs to come together more and more to find progressive and effective solutions to the major obstacles we face, from climate change to social injustice. An important step for us was the implementation of the sustainability requirements that come into force this season and require brands to meet 18 minimum standards in order to be on the official trade show schedule. These standards look at sustainability holistically and, given their implementation, we hope to work with these great leaders of organizations and companies, industry representatives and brands to put all proposals on the table and take action.”
Robin Mellory Pratt, Senior Director of Content Strategy at The Business of Fashion, notes: “The Business of Fashion is delighted to be hosting a roundtable discussion in partnership with Copenhagen Fashion Week that brings together stakeholders from across the value chain to explore how the industry can accelerate its efforts to become more sustainable. With legislators, commodity innovators, representatives from a number of major fashion weeks, leading brands and experts in product lifecycles and consumer sentiment all in attendance, we can efficiently learn from each other and in turn more effectively drive the much-needed systemic change.”
