The Fashion Council Germany's internationalisation project Berlin Fashion X International will be expanded to the Asian market in late summer 2025. Complementing previous delegation trips to New York City, the first trip to the South Korean capital Seoul will now take place. The project, which is funded by the Berlin Senate Department for Economics, Energy and Public Enterprises, is particularly aimed at supporting Berlin-based companies in tapping into new international markets. This also includes facilitating important local business contacts and specific industry knowledge.

Expansion into the Asian market is an important step towards internationalisation. Seoul has been one of the most relevant Asian cities in the fashion sector for several years now and is establishing itself as an international fashion metropolis. The Fashion Council Germany is building on existing relationships with South Korea, which were established in the past through the growing success of Berlin Fashion Week. The growing interest of German brands in the South Korean market was a particular motivation for expanding the project to Seoul.

The delegation trip to Seoul will take place from 30 August to 5 September 2025 and offers participating brands an extensive programme. This includes various sales and communication workshops as well as networking formats with important local stakeholders, press representatives and industry experts. The aim is to provide strategic market entry recommendations and facilitate important business contacts. The programme will be based on a fact-finding trip that the Fashion Council Germany is conducting in preparation for its expansion into the Asian market in spring 2025.

Scott Lipinski, CEO of Fashion Council Germany, explains: "Expanding into the Asian market was a logical step for us. South Korea is a dynamic fashion nation – with this delegation trip, we are offering participating brands the opportunity to strategically tap into this market. Our goal is to promote sustainable business relationships and intensify intercultural exchange between the Berlin and South Korean fashion scenes. "

Following the delegation trip, participants will build on the business contacts they have made and further develop the relationships they have established. The aim is to establish and strategically position the brands on the South Korean market. The Fashion Council Germany will continue to act in an advisory capacity after the trip and support the project participants in their internationalisation process. Regular webinars with industry experts provide further input.

(Berlin) Fashion brands and fashion tech start-ups had until mid-April to apply to participate in the delegation trip to South Korea.

The fourth delegation trip to New York City will also take place in April 2025. The eleven participating brands are:6ad Stitches, Andrej Gronau, Esther Perbandt, Fiona Bennett, Gina Melosi, Horror Vacui, International Citizen, Laura Gerte, Studio Taskin, Unvain and William Fan.
